Mawazo Zaina was born in 1981 in Bukavu, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and departed this life on 10/23/2020. At a very young age, she escaped to Burundi during the war in her country and was raised by a loving aunt in a refugee camp. Mawazo was accepted to immigrate to the United States in 2015. She was awarded Legal Permanent Residency after several years. Mawazo attended services at All Nations Alpha and Omega Church where she was welcomed and received baptism. She loved music, singing, dancing, socializing, and collecting all kinds of bijoux.
Mawazo was preceded in death by her parents and siblings. She is survived by extended family and tribe members in DRC, Burundi, the United States, and other countries. She leaves behind to remember her always, two Sisters in Christ: Safi Kuminga (Pastor Raymond Ramazani), former Case Manager Pamala White (Mama Pamella), and Brother in Christ Barabiraho Etienne (Anna Githinji).
Services will be held at Pine Crest Funeral Home and Cemetery on Saturday April 3, 2021 at 2 p.m.
