I would have contacted you. I appreciated them for their kindness and work. They helped me when they were here. I know they helped many. Please accept my deepest sympathy on Mellie's passing.  

I had called a few times in the last month and her voicemail always said it was full. My sisters and I wondered if she had passed away so my niece googled her and found her obituary.

I am the daughter of Virginia (Baby Turk) Wilson.  Mom and Mellie & Ellie had been friends since they were about 13 and we all felt like they were part of our family.

My last memory of Mom and Mellie was when I was sitting on our patio and Mellie and her driver/nurse passed by slowly.  I went to speak to her and asked if she would like to see mom.  She said she couldn't go up the stairs and mom could hardly walk.  I asked her nurse to bring Mellie to the front of the house. I got mom to the front porch and got a chair for Mellie to sit on on the sidewalk with mom sitting on the swing.  They sat for a good while reminiscing. 

My sisters and I will miss her greatly but I know she is in heaven with Ellie and mom and Lord knows what those three are up to.

Melva (and Ellie) were an important part of my early years not only teaching me about horses and riding but also providing life lessons and a safe place to "hang out" as a young teen. I have many great memories of the Bit & Spur Club, rides, bus trips, dances at the club house, working on the newsletter and just being around Melva, Ellie,the horses, other riders and the stables. My condolences to Frazier, Skip and the family.

The years I spent at the Bit and Spur Club are some of my fondest. Melva and Ellie were always there with guidance and always adding to the fun. The dances in the Club House, card games, guitar playing and singing on the porch. The horse shows at the stable and road trips to shows around the Gulf Coast were such fun. None of this could have happened without those precious ladies. It is with sadness that I send my condolences to you, her family. All who knew Melva were blessed.

My condolences to the family. I have so many fond memories from Bit & Spur Stables. I would spend all of my spare time there as a child. May she rest in peace.

Had so much fun at Bit In Spur growing up. Elli and Melva gave me a love for Horses and really all animals. Thanks for all the wonderful memories and joy we had.

Melva and Ellie gave us Camelot at the Bit and Spur Club. They watched over each of us like mother hens. So many activities like Fox hunts, dances, playing Spider in the pasture. So many life long friendships! So many truly wonderful memories. Wish we could do a Bit and Spur reunion to honor them both. Thank you Melva and Thank you, Ellie for creating a wonderous childhood for so many, many of us.

Great lady.  I knew her and Ellie and Mrs. Christy and son Frazier all my life and even took riding lessons at the Stableswhen I was 9 or 10.  What a wonderful life she had.  My heartfelt condolences to the family.

Lots of good times at Bit and Spur for so many of us who rode as children. We are thankful for the life of Melva who introduced many of us to the love of horses and to being an equestrian.  God Bless you and your family

Condolences to the family..I practically grew up at Bit and Spur (both locations), many great memories. Melva along with Eleanor were such wonderful ladies.
