Merlyn Fatima Dominguez was born on October 8, 1965 in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. After a brave battle with metastatic pancreatic cancer she died in Austin, Texas on December 31, 2023. Merlyn was a loving mother, wife, sister, grandmother and friend. She was married to Hernan Dominguez for 39 years. She moved to the US in 1982 from San Pedro Sula, Honduras and became a citizen in 2004. She was a very proud American. An avid traveler, she always looked forward to planning her next trip with Hernan. After raising their children, Merlyn and Hernan, completed their goal of visiting all 50 states in the country. Together they traveled all over the world. One of her favorite past times was gardening. Being very knowledgeable about plants, she loved to gift family and friends with plants and flowers on special occasions. Spending time with her grandchildren brought her an insurmountable amount of joy. Despite the cancer diagnosis in December 2020 Merlyn remained positive and full of faith. She is preceded in death by her father Maximilliano Zavala and her mother Maria Elvia Galeano de Zavala and is survived by her husband Hernan, her daughters Elaine Mañas (Michael), Eileen Serrano (Carlos), and son Hernan (Veronica); and five beloved grandchildren Alex, John, Joseph, Darla and Jacob.
A memorial service will be held from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street on Friday, January 19, 2024, at 3 p.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until the service hour. Condolences may be offered at www.radneyfuneralhome-mobile.com.
