
Mr. Gilmore served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Saipan during World War II. He was a long time member and Deacon of Orchard Baptist Church, and was a current faithful member of Crawford Baptist Church. He was a 32nd Degree member of the Chickasaw Lodge #894 F & AM and retired from Delchamps, Inc. after 33 years of service.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Christine Turner Gilmore; children, Sherry Ann Gilmore, Danny (Beverly) Gilmore, Billy (Nola) Gilmore, Randall (Jana) Gilmore, and LaTrelle (Ricky) Williams; five brothers, George B. Gilmore, Melvin Gilmore, Wendell Gilmore, James Hardy Gilmore, and Kenny Gilmore; two sisters, Margie Gilmore McDermid and Cujette Gilmore Hood; nine grandchildren, Jeff Gilmore, Gregg (Samantha) Gilmore, Christy (Paul) Parker, Natasha (Matt) Collins, Ashley (Korey) Adams, Keith (Katie) Gilmore, Kevin Gilmore, Chad (Julia) Williams, and Carla Williams (Cameron) Weavil; twenty-two great-grandchildren, Chrissy Gilmore, Trevor Gilmore, Trenton Gilmore, Sydney Gilmore, Kylie Gilmore, Jackson Gilmore, Hayleigh Parker, Hayden Parker, Natalie Gilmore, Kayla Gilmore, Colby Adams, Lauren Adams, Lanie Adams, Rustin Adams, Madeline Gilmore, Marco Williams, Isabel Williams, Luisa Williams, Mary Caitlyn Williams, Hannah Gibson, Brooks Gibson, and Hastings Weavil; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home on Friday, February 4, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery West.
