Muriel Heath Cobb, a native of Lakewood, FL and longtime resident of Chickasaw, AL, was surrounded by family as she passed from this life on Friday, October 6, 2017 at Springhill Manor Nursing Home in Mobile, AL. Mrs. Cobb was born March 1, 1930 to Floyd Dunbar Heath and Allie Luetta Fountain Heath at the home of her beloved grandparents, John Manuel and Jeanette Tallulah Prater Fountain. She attended school in Paxton, FL and was a member of the 1947 Paxton High School graduating class. Throughout and following high school, Muriel was employed as a Clerk and Bookkeeper by Mr. J. W. Adams at the Jitney Jungle Grocery Store in Florala, AL. Muriel and Gerald Graham Cobb were married in 1950 and celebrated 65 years of marriage. They lived in Florala, AL and Andalusia, AL prior to relocating to the Mobile area in the early 1950’s. Muriel was a loving and devoted wife and mother. Family was her priority. She was an accomplished seamstress and loved to sew for “her girls”. An animal lover, Muriel lovingly cared for numerous pets throughout her life - in particular (as a young woman) a pony named Cricket and a cocker spaniel named Rusty. Muriel had a passion for gardening and generously shared “pass along” plants with family, friends and neighbors. Descendants of her grandmother’s Dorothy Perkins Roses can be found at her home in Chickasaw, her daughter’s home in Mobile and quite possibly in the gardens of countless other individuals with whom she shared them. Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gerald Graham Cobb; parents, Floyd Dunbar and Allie Luetta Fountain Heath; brother and sister-in-law Floyd Maxie and Doris Brannan Heath. Survived by two daughters Brenda Carol Cobb of Mobile, AL and Deborah Diane Cobb of Chickasaw, AL and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at Radney Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Graveside services will be held at Greenwood Cemetery in Florala, AL on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. The Cobb family would like to extend their utmost gratitude to the caregivers at Springhill Manor for all the love and compassion shown to Mrs. Cobb. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to your charity of choice.
