Nancy Jackson Turner Simmons, 95, of Mobile, Alabama, passed peacefully from time to eternity on January 15, 2025. She was preceded in death by her mother, Lucile Jackson Turner, and her two brothers, Stanley Eugene Turner and David Jackson Turner. She is survived by her daughters, Nancy Ann Simmons Bowers (Tony) and Amy Simmons Cummings (Matt), her grandchildren, Caroline Lucile Bowers, August Jackson Bowers (Shelby), Ann Hanlon Cummings and Matthew Ross Cummings, Jr.
Nancy was born in Dallas, Texas on December 9, 1929. The family then moved to Mobile when her uncle, Thomas Todd Martin Sr., became an executive with the Gulf, Mobile & Ohio Railroad. She attended Murphy High School where she graduated in 1947. She attended Huntington College for two years then graduated from the University of Alabama with a BS Degree in Education in 1951. Nancy was a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. After college, she lived in Memphis for a few years until she moved home to Mobile where she worked at Brookley Field for a time as an Inventory Specialist. She was a long-time member of Spring Hill Baptist Church where she worked with the 6th grade Sunday School class for many years. Nancy loved to work in her yard and took much pride in its beauty.
Her greatest joy was being a mother to Ann and Amy. Her grandchildren were the light of her life! But her greatest LOVE was for her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was diligent in her study of scripture. She waited in hopeful anticipation for the day she would go to her eternal home. She longed for it. “Faith is the confidence in what we hope for and assurance of what we do not see” Hebrews 11:1. Nancy’s faith was in the finished work of Jesus on her behalf. Her faith is now sight!
Services will be held at Radney Funeral Home on Monday, January 20th, at 11:00 am, with the visitation at 10:00 am. There will be a private graveside service afterward for the family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Mulherin Home or Spring Hill Baptist Church.
