Nettie Ruth Harris

Ruth was born in Repton, Alabama to the late Vassie and Richard Lowery on December 9, 1924. She attended school at Alba School in Bayou La Batre until she had to leave to care for her younger siblings. She married Thomas Lee Harris, Sr., and went on to raise a family. She proudly worked in the Seafood Industry in Bayou La Batre, excelling in opening oysters.

Mrs. Harris was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas L. Harris, Sr.; her son, Thomas L. Harris, Jr.; and her baby daughter, Audrey Ann Harris.

She is survived by her son, Melvin E. Harris (Sheila); daughters, Carol Gurley, Diane Scott (Johnny), Marilyn Wright (Wayne); Multiple grandchildren and great grandchildren; one brother, J.W. Lowery and a sister-in-law, JoAnn Lowery, also, survived by other relatives, family and friends.

Active Pallbearers will be Jeremy Wright, Dylan Zavros, Nathan Wright, Jaylen Harris, Hayden Harris and Noah Dates.

The family would like to give heartfelt thanks to Saads, for their love and care of Mrs. Harris. And the many friends and others who reached out to provide meals and prayers during this time.

Graveside Service will be held on Monday, March 10, 2025 at 11:00 am. at Odd Fellows Cemetery, Irvington, Alabama.
