Nicholas Smutz Loftus, III – resident of Sarland, Alabama, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, August 21, 2022. He was born to N.S. Loftus and Rita Loftus on June 5, 1942 in Crosby, Mississippi. As a child, he enjoyed the summer trips to New Orleans. He served with the United States Air Force. Mr. Loftus chose sales as a career, and worked in many variations. He was an avid sports fan and athlete in his younger days. He loved USC and the Rams. Mr. Loftus was a devout Christian – had read the bible twelve times over and could quote scripture very well. He was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church. He was a wonderful man, and will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one uncle, George Miller; and adopted brother, Ray Carpenter.
Mr. Loftus is survived by his wife of 38 years, Doris Kelly Loftus; two brothers, Curtis (Betty) Loftus and Glenn (Cynthia) Loftus; one sister, Darlene (Tony) Cruthirds; as well as other cherished family and friends.
A graveside service for Mr. Loftus will be held on Friday, August 26, 2022 at 1 p.m. in Pine Crest Cemetery on Dauphin Island Parkway in Mobile, Alabama.
