Nolan Leon Ramsey, 73, passed away peacefully on November 17, 2017 with his daughter by his side. He was preceded in death by Sharon, his wife of 45 years; parents Leon Burton Ramsey and Florrow Ward Ramsey; older brother Bobby Ramsey and twin brother Norman Ramsey. He is survived by his daughter, Tracy M. Day (Jason); grandson, Bradley Davis Day; granddaughter, Sydney Reese Day.
Nolan graduated from Baker High School and went on to serve 4years in the United States Navy and is a Vietnam Veteran.
He earned his degree in Criminal Justice from Faulkner Community College. He retired as a Sergeant from the City of Mobile Police Department after 23 years of dedicated service. Nolan took great pride in his work as an officer of the law and as a homicide detective. He held the department’s highest honor, the Medal of Valor. After retiring from law enforcement, he worked as a bailiff in
the courtroom of Judge Ferrill McRae.
Nolan is a past Worshipful Master of Azalea Masonic Lodge where he has been a member for 30+ years, serving in many capacities, devoting numerous hours of service. He is also a member of the
George W. Potter Lodge.
He has left behind an army of friends and will be greatly missed by all. A special thank you to his dear friends Ray McInnis, O.L. and Linda Smith, Delores Revette and devoted neighbor, Mr. Jesse.
Visitation will Monday November 20, 2017 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Radney Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Tuesday November 21, 2017 at 10:00 am at the funeral home chapel. Mr. Ramsey will be laid to rest at Springhill Memorial Gardens. Arrangements under the direction of Radney Funeral Home-Mobile, Mobile, AL.
