Nona Carol McGowan

Nona Carol McGowan, 73, passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2020 in Wilmer, Alabama. Nona was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was a faithful member of The Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church. Nona was a very creative and artistic person – a very accomplished painter. She was caring and generous, and family was the most important thing in the world to her. Nona joined her husband of 49 years, Travis Eugene McGowan; father, William F. Loewen, Sr.; mother, Alice Modesta Loewen; and brother, William F. Loewen, Jr. She is survived by her sons, Ronald W. McGowan (Shawnta) and R. Scott McGowan (Amy); grandson, Justin K. McGowan (Kassy); brothers, Christopher Loewen (Brenda), Michael Loewen (Karen), Timothy Loewen (Joanne), and Russell Loewen (Laura); two sisters, Robin Watson (Dale) and Deborah Carpenter (Jamie); as well as many nieces, nephews, and other cherished family and friends. A graveside service will be held for Nona on Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at 10 a.m. in Pine Crest Cemetery. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Cancer Society.

Nona Carol McGowan mom , daughter sister and grandparent she was good at all of those , she was the rock of our family always having holidays and get togethers at nona’s , she always was the organizer of our family, the Loewen’s favorite holiday was Christmas Eve when we stop having them at mom and dads we started having Christmas at nona’s , billy our big brother spent his last Christmas at nona’s telling everyone he loved them , Most all holidays was at nona’s , she love her boys and grandson Justin , she always loved being around her brothers and sisters and there kids , when dad passed mom moved in with Nona and gene , gene fell ill and Nona took care of mom and gene for years ,she truly was the best sister always being there for her family and love ones , we will miss u big sister , RIP Nona carol thanks for loving me and our family so much we Will see u in heaven one day ur brother Mike 🙏❤️
