Opal Yvonne Caine, lovingly referred to as “Kitty,” was born in Allentown, Florida on July 9, 1938. She passed peacefully into glory on July 30, 2026 at the age of 88. Yvonne was a resident of Mobile, Alabama. Her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is preceded in death by her parents Grady Henley and Voncile Henley, her brother Warren Earl Henley, her sister Shirley Skipper, and her sister Sandra Coker.
Yvonne had a gift for conversation and a quick wit, paired with a wonderful sense of humor. She loved filling a room with laughter. Though she enjoyed lighthearted conversation, she was also a patient listener who, like Christ, befriended the friendless.
She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved her family deeply.
She was a gifted cook, known for making the best shoepeg corn casserole this side of the Mississippi. She could turn simple ingredients from her refrigerator into a delicious entrée. She spent her life nourishing others.
She is survived by the love of her life of 52 years, Walter Drury “Buddy” Caine Jr. of Mobile, Alabama; children John (Anita) Overstreet of Mobile, Alabama, Melanie (Judge Jerry) Baird of Birmingham, Alabama, Rachel (Rhett) Nilsen of Mobile, Alabama, and Jared (Elayne) Caine of Daphne, Alabama; grandchildren Jeff (Jessica) Overstreet, Justin (Emily) Overstreet, Laurie Beth (Andrew) Kesterson, Dr. Mary Martin (Max) McGill, Sharon Nilsen, Seth Nilsen, Ben Nilsen, Courtney (Matthew) Davis, Amanda Caine, Emily Caine, Christian Caine, and sister Brenda (Jim) Bird of Milton, Florida; nine great-grandchildren; eight loving nieces and nephews; and many other devoted relatives and friends.
All of those she loved and touched deeply, please join us on Tuesday, August 4, 2026 for visitation starting at 2 pm to 3 pm and a celebration of life service from 3pm to 4pm at Radney Funeral Home, 3155 Dauphin St, Mobile, Alabama 36606. Flower arrangements can be delivered to the funeral home.
