Paul Howell, 78, born December 6, 1940, in Wilmer, Alabama, passed from this life on July 2, 2019. He was preceded in death by his parents, Chase and Annie Howell, 7 brothers and 4 sisters. He is survived by Cynthia Howell, his wife of 58 years; four children, Gail (Chris) Hooper, Margie Sumner, Sheila (Jamie) Wetherington and Paul Vincent Howell; one brother, Ed, and two sisters, Barbara and Brenda, 11 granddaughters and 10 great grandchildren. also, survived by a large extended family. The world has lost a great man. From a young age, Paul was a dedicated worker who earned his way through life by working hard for what he wanted. His brother Ed once described him: “No one can build better with less stuff and faster than Paul.” He never shrank from an honest day’s work, and many times worked tirelessly and selflessly to help others he cared about. He was often firm, but always fair, holding to his beliefs. He loved to hunt and fish and always wanted to share these passions with others. He would go out of his way to help and protect others, especially family. He was generous, sometimes to the point of sacrificing himself for others’ needs. He grew up in a large family but did not like crowds; neither did he like to be alone. In addition to family, he leaves behind two beloved and faithful dogs, Barney and Wishbone, who brought him much joy. He will be greatly missed by all those who loved him.
