Peggy Kemp Murrill, 56, passed away on Wednesday, March 25, 2020 in Mobile, Alabama. Peggy was born in Titusville, Florida to William Harold Kemp and Margie Kemp on November 24, 1963. Peggy has worked her entire life. In the mid-1980’s, she went to school and obtained a certification in floral design. Peggy was the office manager and bookkeeper for the family business for twenty six years, during which time she also opened and developed Plants Galore Florist and Nursery, worked for Delchamps for thirteen years, and worked for Walmart for ten years.
She absolutely loved her Alabama Football! She went to every home game she could for years. Whether Peggy was at the game or just watching it on television, she was their loudest fan! Peggy loved her music. Her favorite was 70’s and 80’s rock & roll, and she loved cranking up her jam and going on a road trip to the beach with her besties. Peggy never met a stranger – after just a few minutes around her you know you had a friend for life. She loved to laugh and make people laugh, she was just truly funny!
Peggy loved her Mom, “to the moon and back” as she always said. She loved her family and friends. There was nothing that she wouldn’t do for anybody in need. Her nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews loved her and she sure loved them all! The younger ones call her “Honey”. Peggy loved her four fur babies. They were her heart and she theirs. They’re missing their Mama.
She married William (Buddy) Murrill on April 24, 1982. Buddy would go on to say, “No matter what adventure or endeavor I ever attempted, she always had my back. People say I took care of her, but she was the one taking care of me. No matter how much life threw at her, she would always persevere. She was the strongest person I’ve ever known. She has always been and will always be my hero.”
Peggy was preceded in death by her father, William Harold Kemp; sister, Terry Fine; and one brother, William Kemp.
She is survived by her loving husband of thirty-eight years, Buddy Murrill; her mother, Margie Kemp; sisters, Louanne Wright, Robin Joslin, and Donna Pierce; brother, Harold Eugene Kemp; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and greatly cherished friends.
Visitation for Peggy will be held on Tuesday, March 31, 2020 from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. at Pine Crest Funeral Home on Dauphin Island Parkway in Mobile, Alabama. A graveside service will immediately follow in Pine Crest Cemetery.
