Peggy R. Stabler
January 28, 1932 – February 5, 2021
On Friday, February 5, 2021, Peggy Jean Roberts Stabler of Mobile, Alabama entered eternity with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at the age of 89. Born in Mantachie, Mississippi, Peg spent her life serving others. After graduating from Milwaukee Bible College with a teaching degree, she spent much of her life working with her husband Dr. JW Stabler in his eye practice, Stabler Bible Bookstore and the Mobile Rescue Mission he founded in 1949. From her heart for children, she taught many Child Evangelism Fellowship Good News Clubs in schools and her backyard and was a board member until recent years. After her husband’s passing in 1978, she went back to school earning her RN with the purpose of continuing to serve others and having a better schedule to raise their young daughter. She worked 18 years on the post-surgical floor then Restorative Care of Knollwood Park Hospital serving her patients and their families always beyond what was required. She retired from the hospital to take care of her ailing mother and many other family and friends until their passing. In her recent years while her health allowed, she taught numerous 2nd graders at her home church she loved, Cottage Hill Baptist Church. Peg will be remembered and was always respected by many for her selfless and sacrificial service, love of her family and church, her amazing cooking and most importantly her faith in, love of, obedience and commitment to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Peg was preceded in death by her husband Dr. James W “JW” Stabler, her parents Qurles and Verna Roberts, her sister Jeanette Bedford, her brother Nolan Cully Roberts and her nephew Ralph Roberts.
