March 2, 1939 – January 21, 2020
Penny Adamo passed away peacefully on January 21, 2020 in the presence of her devoted husband, Joe and her beloved sons, Gregory and Joel. Born March 2, 1939, Barbara Flora “Penny” was the only child of David and Mildred Cohen of Macon, Georgia. On December 6, 1987, Penny married the love of her life, Joseph J. Adamo in Atlanta, Georgia. Within weeks, Joe was named the District manager for J.C. Penney in the Mobile office. The newlyweds began their beautiful life story in Mobile, Alabama, January 1988. Penny immediately immersed herself in the community as a volunteer and supporter of the arts. She enthusiastically served on the boards of the Mobile Symphony, Mobile Opera Guild, Mobile Theatre Guild, Mobile Ballet, The American Red Cross and Penelope House. Her boundless desire to service continues to inspire others. A gracious hostess and gourmet cook, she and husband, Joe, shared the joy of gardening and saturating their spacious home with a vast eclectic collection of art from around the world. A voracious reader, always curious, always grateful, Penny embraced every day as an opportunity to make the world a kinder place. She cradled her family, her friends, her community and her faith. Penny is survived by her husband of thirty three years, Joseph Adamo; two sons, Gregory Glass and wife Elizabeth, Joel Glass and wife Amy; grandchildren, David Justin Glass, Joshua Ethan Glass and Ashley Shana Glass, all of Atlanta Georgia; step-children, Joseph Bruce Adamo and Dawn Deanne Adamo Campion; granddaughters, Cori and Shelby Adamo. Penny was preceded in death by her daughter, Shana Amy Glass of Atlanta. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Penelope House, The Mitchell Cancer Institute or the charity of your Choice. Funeral Services for Mrs. Adamo will be today, January 24, 2020, 11 am. at Pine Crest Funeral Home, 1939 Dauphin Island Parkway, Mobile with visitation beginning at 10 am.

Ben, Alan and Paula want to express our deepest sympathies to Joe, Greg, Joel, Bruce and Dawn and all your family for the loss of Penny. She was a sweet and beautiful person. If my mother were here she would want to express how much she loved Penny and thank her for being a friend, for all the memories and fun times. May God hold you all tightly during this time of grief and give you comfort knowing Penny is smiling down upon each of you throwing glorious kisses of sunshine upon you face every day letting you know she arrived safely in the heavens, she's ok, you will be ok and she will see you again...God Bless you all..
