She attended the University of Alabama and Ohio State University where she was a member of Sigma Delta Tau sorority.
She was a member of the Springhill Avenue Temple and past president of the Sisterhood. She served on the Boards of Mobile Mental Health Center, Mobile Opera Guild, National Council of Jewish Women and the Medical Alliance of Mobile County. She was in the first class of docents of the Mobile Museum of Art and served 5 years before entering a 34-year career as a Realtor. She retired from LLB&B in 2013.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Julian Sanford Lewis; parents, Sam and Florence Millstein; sisters, Maxine Harris and Tanya Palmer; and brother, Sam Millstein.
Perrye’s legacy is carried on through her partner, Sidney Franklin Wood; daughter, Pamela Spanjer (Byron); sons, Alan Lewis (Brenda), Todd Lewis and Martin Lewis (Kym); grandchildren, Alison Lewis Passink (Lyle), Craig Thompson (Jocelyn), Julianne Lewis Grant Johnson (DJ), Wyatt Lewis, Owen Lewis, Sara Spanjer, Lauren Bricks, Elan Spanjer (Sergio), and Tessa Wirtz (Ed); and her great-grandchildren, Nili and Pippa Passink, Julian and Leonora Thompson, Lilly, Keller and Irene Grant Johnson, David and Maya Bricks, Eddie and Talia Wirtz, Waverley Ren and Finley Benise. L’dor Vador, from Generation to Generation.
Perrye was a special friend to all who knew her. She was the heart and soul of her extensive family, which she coined “BFE – The Best Family Ever”.
Funeral services will be graveside at the Springhill Avenue Temple Cemetery, 765 Owen Street, at 12:00PM on Wednesday, September 9, 2026.
