Mobile native Preston Buren Brady, Jr., passed away peacefully in his home in Mobile, Alabama where he lived most of his life. After graduating from Murphy High School he joined the United States Navy where he was stationed in San Francisco and Yokosuka, Japan. He was very proud of his medals : the Korean Service, United Nations Service and the National Defense Service medal. Back in civilian life he met Katie Mae Johnson, who became his wife and gave birth to four children. Mr. Brady was later was an aircraft mechanic at Brookley Field in Mobile, AL, and a glass glazier for many years before retiring. He dedicated a large part of his retirement years to caring for sick and injured animals and wildlife, and relied on staff at the Mobile Environmental Studies Center to help in many special situations. He loved to play the guitar and sing, and will especially be remembered for his keen sense of humor and gift for recounting stories and travels in his life.
He did not believe in strangers, and if he was standing with you in the supermarket line, you were almost sure to be friends before you left. There are many who will dearly miss him, including his son Preston Brady III, daughters Kimberly J. Brady, Kathy Ball (Vaughn "Ray" Ball), Karen Orr, Melisa Gutierrez, friend Marilyn Brady, sister, Ruth Graves, brother Cornlius (Connie) Brady, granddaughter Kelly Brady, 16 grandchildren, and many grandnieces, nephews, friends - and not least, his critters.
