Rebecca Murphy Cross

Rebecca was a devoted member of Springhill Baptist Church in Mobile, where she was deeply involved in her Sunday School class and found great joy in her faith. Her love for her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ guided her life and brought comfort to those around her.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Ronald Cross, and her sister, JoAnne Jernigan.

Rebecca’s legacy continues through the lives of her children: John Ronald Cross, Jr. (Tammy), Mark Peyton Cross (Trini), Tracy Cross Field, and Chad Murphy Cross (Lindsey). She was a cherished grandmother to Rebecca Cross Parker, Mary Ray Brutkiewicz (Casey), Hunter Cross (Caitlin), Mary Collins Cross, Celie Field, and Claire Cross. Her family also includes many great-grandchildren who brought immense joy to her later years.

In honor of Rebecca’s generous spirit and enduring faith, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, or the Eye on Grace Foundation in lieu of flowers.

May her memory bring comfort and peace to all who knew and loved her.

A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, April 23, 2025 at Springhill Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday morning from 10:00 a.m. until service time.

Private interment will be held at Pine Crest Cemetery, Mobile, Alabama.
