Rhea Ann Kimbell
January 25, 1957 – March 18, 2020
Rhea Ann Kimbell (Ann) was born in Pine Bluff, Arkansas on January 25, 1957 and was called home on March 18, 2020 in Birmingham, Alabama at 63 years of age.
Ann was a 63 year old six year old. She had the innocence of a child throughout her life, and she touched so many people in her own special way. Being stuck at six years old blessed her with an ability to warm hearts. She told people all the time “I prayed for you last night”, “you’re my best friend”, or “I love you”, and she truly meant it – with the innocence of a child. She loved to dance, eat out, play bingo, buy t-shirts, and cheer for Alabama’s football team. She also loved attending programs at the Exceptional Foundation during her time in Birmingham as well as attending MARC programs as a child in Mobile. Ann spent most of her life in Mobile, Alabama but moved to Birmingham in 2013. She lived in the Darden House at St. Martins in the Pines where she met and loved some truly caring, beautiful people. We know that Jesus loved the little children and also know with great certainty Ann is now in the hands of the Lord. She gave love, was loved, and will be greatly missed.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Brown Franklin Kimbell and Margie Dees Kimbell-Fraser, as well as her stepfather, John J. Fraser.
Surviving Ann is her brother, Brown Franklin Kimbell, Jr. and his wife, Jan Bailey Kimbell; nieces, Emily Elizabeth Kimbell and Bailey Kimbell Pearlman (Ross); nephews, Benjamin Edward Kimbell and Mitchell Franklin Kimbell. She was also survived by two special aunts, Melba Pickering and Ramona Rodgers, as well as numerous cousins, all who made such an impact on her life.
She will be laid to rest with a family graveside service on Thursday, March 26 at Pine Crest Cemetery, 1939 Dauphin Island Parkway, Mobile, Alabama. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Ann’s name to either The Exceptional Foundation or to St. Martins in the Pines, both in Birmingham, Alabama.

Ann has been a part of our family since I was a small child. She was quick with a smile and kind word. Ann was a special person with a big heart who never met anyone she didn’t consider a friend. I will miss her sweet smile and stories.
