Richard Whitsett Parker, age 59, 0f Mobile, passed away Saturday, May 6, 2017, after a lengthy battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Kathleen Roy Parker; his twin sons, Wilson Knowles Parker and Jonathan O’Neal Parker; his mother, Kathleen Knowles Parker; and his brother, Lee Francis Parker. Mr. Parker was preceded in death by his father, Samuel Francis Parker. Richard was a graduate of Foley High School, Class of 1976, where he was a member of the marching band. He then went on to graduate from Auburn University and supported all things Auburn. He was a civil structural engineer and worked for Volkert, who has been wonderful too the family during this battle. The Parker family has been members of Christ United Methodist Church for over 20 years. Being extremely family oriented, he adored his boys and spending time with his family and friends. The family would like to express their gratitude to all the family, friends, and all those who showed their support; and a special thank you to the caregivers, without whom the last three years could not have been managed. The visitation will be Thursday, May 11, 2017, from 8:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at Christ United Methodist Church. The funeral service will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the church. Rev. Jeff Spiller will officiate. Interment will follow at Pine Rest Memorial Park.
