

Richard Neal Twilley, Sr., age 84, of Mobile passed away Tuesday, December 6, 2016, at his home surrounded by his loving family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Carolyn Davidson Twilley; his sons, Rick (Karen), Michael (Kathryn), and Ron (Darlene); six grandchildren, Brandon, Brianne, Brett, Nicole, Alexandra, and Austin; a great-grandchild, Landon; a brother, Melvin; two sisters, Peggy Davis and Betty Williams; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Alonza and Grace Twilley; three sisters, Annie Merle Williams, Geraldine Morgan, and Mary Elizabeth Flowers; and two brothers, Leo and Maurice. Richard was blessed in so many ways, but his greatest joy was his family. He never missed an opportunity to watch his grandchildren compete in sporting events and other activities. He was a member of Dauphin Way Baptist Church. Richard retired from Western Electric with over 30 years of service, after which he began a residential homebuilding business. He was a member of the Home Builders Association of Metro Mobile’s Board of Directors since 1988. In 1993 he served as the Secretary of Home Builders Assoc. of Metro Mobile and in 1988 he was awarded Emeritus status. He became an honorary Lifetime Member in 2007 and was awarded the E.L. Jones Building Industry’s Hall of Fame Award. He was also named Small Business of the Month by the Alabama Home Builders Association. The family would like to express a special thank you to the caregivers, Diann and Nita Murray, who cared for him so lovingly. Visitation will be held Saturday, December 10, 2016, from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Radney Funeral Home, Mobile. The funeral service will be held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Radney funeral home.
