Robert Keith Hayes

Robert Keith Hayes, 55, a native and resident of Mobile, died in Amarillo, Texas on Wednesday, May 17, 2017. Bob attended McGill-Toolen High School and earned an Electrical Engineering Degree from Auburn University. Upon Graduation, Bob was employed by Teledyne Brown Engineering in Huntsville, working in the Space Program. He was later transferred to Houston, where he was very involved in the Shuttle Program – his company being contracted to NASA at Johnson Space Center. Bob loved Auburn University and was an ardent fan of all sports at Auburn – keeping up with activities each day by internet, T.V., and newspaper. Bob is survived by his mother, Lanelle S. Hayes; father, David L. (Sinikka) Hayes; sister, Donna H. Bauer; nephew, Lucas Bauer; niece, Kaitlyn Bauer; two step-sisters, Brenda O’Gwynn and Victoria Ritchie; step-brother, Michael Ritchie; a very devoted friend, Lisa Sparks; and numerous cousins. Visitation for Bob will be held from 10-11 a.m. on Thursday, May 25, 2017 at Pine Crest Funeral Home on Dauphin Island Parkway, with a chapel service at 11 a.m. Interment will immediately follow in Pine Crest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donations be made to your favorite charity.
