Robert R.L. L Pope

R. L. Pope, a native of Enigma, Georgia and a longtime resident of Grand Bay, Alabama died on Sunday, January 13, 2013.

He retired after many years of service with Ingall's Shipbuilding and was a member of First Baptist Church for over 60+ years. Mr. Pope was a member of Grand Bay Lodge #767 F&AM. He was also considered the “Honorary Mayor” of Grand Bay.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Swann Pope; two sons, Robert ”Bobby” Pope and Jimmy Haynes and his sister, Lena Mae Robinson. Mr. Pope is survived by his daughter in law, Dona Haynes; five grandchildren, Donna Haynes (Richard) Williams, Thomas (Kelli) Pope, Jay Haynes, Jennifer (David dec’d) Pope Mosher and Denise Haynes (Matt) Nault; brother and sisters, Winnie Rademacher, C.W. Pope and Jeanette Robinson, nine great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Funeral services will be held from the First Baptist Church of Grand Bay on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at 11 AM. Visitation will start at 9:30 AM at the church. Burial will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
