He was born on September 29th, 1949 in Mobile, Alabama to Herbert Schroeter Jr. and Doris Farmer Schroeter. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother Herbert F. Schroeter. He is survived by sister in law, Doris Smith Schroeter, niece Julia Schroeter Aho (Clay), nephews, Kurt Schroeter (Audra), Mark Schroeter (Sara), and several grand nieces and nephews, all of Birmingham, Alabama. Robert is also survived by many friends who he called family.
After graduating Murphy High School in 1967, he received a B.A. in Commercial Design from the University of South Alabama. He went on to study and complete training as a draftsman, piping design architect and computer programmer. Robert served many local and national engineering firms with his drafting skills, he excelled in this field by holding the title of Senior Design and Drafting Leader at Rust Engineering. Robert spent the last 22-years of his career as a computer programmer at Computer Programs Systems Inc. (CPSI). He was an exceptional professional, but was defined by his love of the outdoors and the many sporting activities and hobbies in which he participated. He was an avid bicyclist and mastered many physical and creative endeavors in his lifetime, including surfing, kayaking, wind surfing, sailing, photography, and digital art to name only a few.
After retiring in 2019 from CPSI Robert continued spending time riding his many bicycles while enjoying various Alabama parks and trails with his friends. He also continued creating digital art from his personal library of creative photography, many of which he shared with those that were significant to him.
Robert requested cremation and that his ashes be scattered in several of the natural settings that he enjoyed through out his life. As requested, a private family service will be held in remembrance of his life. He will be missed by many.
