

Bob attended Notre Dame High School in Biloxi, MS. He went on to study Mathematics at Mississippi State University where he received both his Bachelor’s and Master Degrees in Mathematics with a minor in Electrical Engineering. Following R.O.T.C at MSU he served in the Army for two years as an Intelligence Officer.
Bob spent most of his life in Mobile where he worked as a Systems Analyst for IBM, retiring after 30 years. He was a dedicated loving husband, father and grandpa. Bob enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family. He was a member of the Knight of Columbus in Holy Name of Jesus Parish in Semmes, AL.
Mr. Schwan is preceded in death by his parents, Jules and Callie Austin Schwan, Sr., brother, Thomas Richard “Dick” Schwan and Jules Schwan, Jr.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Mary “Gracie” Moran Schwan, son, Robert Allen (Diane) Schwan, Jr. and daughter, Theresa Schwan (Jeremy) Williams. He is also survived by granddaughter, Shelby Diane Schwan, grandsons, Noah Robert Schwan, Cade Ellis and Jacob Allen Williams of Mobile, AL; sister, Sarah Schwan (Bob) Landry of Biloxi, MS; sister-in-law, Rhonda Schwan, D’Iberville, MS; nieces, Julia Clair Landry, San Jose, CA and Lucy Landry (Avery) Cummings, D’Iberville, MS.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in Semmes, AL on Friday, May 13, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. Friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until mass time. Interment will follow at Alabama State Veterans Cemetery, Spanish Fort, AL.
