It is with great sadness that the family of Ronald Leroy Cubitt announces his passing after a brave battle with pancreatic cancer on May 22, 2018, at the age of 74 years. Ron will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 52 years, Glenda, and his children: Chris (Mau) of Tampa, FL, Cary (Heather), and Rhonda (James) Beam of Mobile, AL. Ron will also be greatly missed by his seven grandchildren, who called him “Papa”: Casey, Alexis, Ashton, Sebastian, Christopher, Caitlyn, and Caley; and by his siblings: Terry Cubitt, Lyman (Earlleen) Owens and Gail Hanlon, all of North Carolina.
Ron was a lover of life, laughter, old cars, sunshine, “good” storms, the evening news, philosophy, America, travel, adventure and the outdoors. Above all, he loved the Lord and his family. He grew up in the tobacco fields of North Carolina and after serving in the Vietnam conflict with the United States Air Force, he found his way to the Gulf Coast and to his lovely wife. He finished his career as the director of purchasing at BLP Mobile Paint Manufacturing Company, and retired in 2009 after nearly 40 years of service. He volunteered as a coach, Sunday school teacher and many other roles.
A visitation for family and friends will be held Friday, May 25, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Radney Funeral Home-Mobile, 3155 Dauphin Street, Mobile, Alabama 36606. A celebration of life will occur Saturday, May 26, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Luke 4:18 Fellowship, 2664 Sollie Rd, Mobile, Alabama 36695.
