Ruben Jones Jr.

He was a veteran of the United States Army. Mr. Jones retired as sergeant for the Hattiesburg Police Department in 1989 and from the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office as a sergeant of corrections in 2013. He was a beloved member of Fulton Road Baptist Church.

Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his parents, Ruben Jones, Sr. and Etoile Jones, as well as Dorothy Harris and John Wayne Jones.

He is survived by his wife, Thelma Jones; children, Christopher C. Jones and Melanie S. Jones; step-children, Ronnie Simmers and Lori Moreland; grandchildren, Katherine Jones, Elizabeth Gamble, Brandon Jones, Sammi Jones, Kendera Kyle, Kayla Saski, Kyle Moreland, Aaron Simmers, and Katelyn Holley; and great grandchildren, Keylan Millender and Christopher Barnhill, along with 12 more.

Visitation will be held at Pine Crest Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, from 12 p.m. until the 1 p.m. chapel funeral service. Graveside services and interment will be held in Biloxi Cemetery on Thursday, April 4, 2024, at 1:30 p.m. Condolences may be offered at www.pinecrestfuneralhome.com.
