
Rudolph William Edward Danis was born in Etna, PA on January 12, 1923. He came of age during the WW2 generation, first going to Carnegie Tech and earning a degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2.5 years, and then serving as LTJG in the Pacific as the engineering officer of an LCI in the Pacific Fleet.
After the war he met Louise McCleskey in Birmingham, Al and married her in 1951. They had two children, Kenneth and Suzanne. They also lived in New Jersey and New Orleans, but spent most of their time together in Mobile Al. Rudy worked for HH Robertson company in Birmingham, New Jersey and New Orleans, and then for the US Army Corp of Engineers in Mobile, retiring as head of Mobile’s Estimating Department in the 1990s. After the death of Louise he married Eileen Kingston, and they moved to Lawrenceville Ga in 2010 to be near his daughter Suzanne.
Rudy passed away May 2, 2017 at the age of 94 in Lawrenceville. He is survived by his son Kenneth Danis, daughter Suzanne Danis Walker, son-in-law Rex Walker and numerous other relatives. Donations to the Sierra Club or Mobile’s Little Sisters of the Poor are requested In lieu of flowers.
Graveside services will be Sunday, May 7 at Pine Crest Cemetery at 2:00 p.m.
