It is with broken hearts that we share that Russell Scott Fountain, age 56, of Mobile, Alabama, has gone to be with our Lord after a hard-fought, courageous battle with cancer. His positive attitude throughout his battle is to be greatly admired. He passed away on February 20, 2026, in Mobile, Alabama.
The Celebration of Life for Russell will be held on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at Ashland Place United Methodist Church. The family will receive visitors beginning at 9:30 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall, with the service to follow at 11:00 a.m. A graveside service will follow at Pine Crest Cemetery.
Russell was born in Oscoda, Michigan, on December 5th, 1969, to James Michael (Mickey) and Donna Daw Fountain. He graduated from Jefferson Davis High School in Montgomery, Alabama, and went on to obtain a degree in Marketing and Advertising from The University of Alabama. While attending the University of Alabama, he was a member of Sigma Nu fraternity. After graduating, he served as Vice President of The University of Alabama National Alumni Association and as President of the Mobile Alumni Association.
With more than 30 years in the insurance and construction industries, Russell founded LFG Building Consultants and served as President and CEO. Under his leadership, LFG Building Consultants grew into a nationally recognized firm in the industry. He was a mentor and friend to many people throughout his career, and deeply cared for those he worked with.
While we are grieving deeply, we are also incredibly thankful for the gift of his life. Russell lived fully and loved well. He found joy in simple, beautiful things like the beach, time on the water, fishing with his buddies, great music, and cheering for the Alabama Crimson Tide (even if these past few years, he quietly cheered for Auburn for Kim, Ellie, and Shep). He had the best sense of humor and a way of making people feel at ease. He leaves behind a lifetime of memories that will forever make us smile.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Kimberly Tate Fountain; children, Ellie Grace Fountain and Shepard Tate Fountain; parents, James Michael Fountain and Donna Daw Fountain; sisters-in-law, Delia (Alex) Brand and Pam (Eric) Smith; and a large number of nieces and nephews, extended family, and many friends.
He provided his family with a beautiful life. Thank you for loving Russell and for surrounding our family with prayers and support. We look forward to celebrating his life together and sharing the stories that will keep his spirit alive in our hearts forever.
