

Ruth Finlay Wallace, a resident of Longwood, Florida, passed from this life into the next on December 2, 2022 at the age of 97, one week before her 98th birthday. She was born in Grand Forks, North Dakota on December 9, 1924. She met her beloved husband, Ward Wallace, through correspondence during WWII. After the war, they met and later married on June 16, 1946. Later, they moved to Mankato, Minnesota where they raised their three daughters and opened their own business, Wallace Carpet and Floor Covering. In 1972 they moved to Lakeland, Florida. In 2004 Ward and Ruth moved to Mobile, Alabama. Ward died November 1, 2016, thus ending a marriage of over 70 years. In 2017, Ruth moved into assisted living in Longwood, Florida. She is survived by daughters Bonnie (Dennis) Eide of Winter Springs, Florida and Debbie Cioletti of Manassas, Virginia, four grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, four step-great grandchildren and sister-in-law, Darlene Harper, of Arkansas City, Kansas and a host of nieces and nephews. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Alex and Ethel Finlay, husband Ward, daughter, Barbara Brown, grandson Andrew Brown, son-in-law Roy Cioletti, three sisters and two brothers.
