
Samuel Joseph Demeranville, Jr. – 97, of Mobile, passed away Thursday, June 25, 2015. Mr. Demeranville was a native of Mobile, graduate of Murphy High School, and attended Spring Hill College. He served in World War II with the rank of captain as an infantry company commander. He was recalled and served as Chief of Operations ORTC Aberdeen Proving Grand, Maryland during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Demeranville was a former employee of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. After 30 years with Southern Industries and Dravo Corp, he retired as Assistant Treasurer and Assistant Controller of Dravo Natural Resources Co. and each of its subsidiaries.
Mr. Demeranville was preceded in death by his son, Samuel J. Demranville, III. He is survived by his beloved wife of 73 years, Rose Mary Demeranville; children, Rose Mary O’Boyle, John Thomas Demeranville (Stephanie), Stephen G. Demeranville (Ann), and Ryan Patrice Schwaner (Chuck); 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Ignatius Catholic Church on Monday, June 29, 2015, at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery.
