I am so sorry for your loss.  I lost my son on September 3. He was 35 yrs old. I can  barely think about it. I understand your pain and heartache. 
I pray the Lord will give you strength for every minute, one day at a time.

I met Sam at Huntington College.  I worked at Huntington as the annual fund Director. I was also the sponsor for the Huntington ambassadors. Sam was chosen as an ambassador for Huntington and I worked with him closely on Alumni events. He was the best ambassador that Huntington college would ever have. He loved everybody and was so kind, especially to the older alumna. He was loved by so many and will be missed. Sam made a very big impression on anybody he met. 

Bigger than life, unbounded in his enthusiasm, and unparalleled in his ability to bring joy to others around him, Sam will always be among the very best to ever walk amongst us.  He could walk into your life to start off a day and within an hour, you would think you had been lifelong friends…because that is how he treated you. We will miss you Sam, and we love you.


Always smiling, laughing, encouraging, or working will be how I remember you. You saw the best in everyone and was always willing to lend a helping hand. A true servant! May God comfort your family and friends!

We met Sam at our nephew Venki’s wedding.  From the moment we met he became part of our family.  We spent a lot of time together at the wedding festivities and had a great time and even though it was a short time we felt like we made a lifetime friend.  We will always remember his fun-loving spirit. We are deeply saddened by Sam’s passing. Our deepest condolences to his  family.

I met Sam at my nephew, Venki’s wedding. We hit it off immediately and by the end of the evening, it felt as if we had been best friends for ever. We went into what I called the funny booth and snapped photos of ourselves with the weirdest expressions. I hadn’t laughed so hard in ages. Although my encounter with Sam was brief, it left an indelible impression on me. Sad as it will be, to look at those photos of Sam, larger than life with that incessant twinkle in his eyes, in quieter moments, they will be a beautiful reminder of a kind soul lost too soon.

My heart is grieving for Sam's lost to me and all his friends and loved ones I know he is with the Lord now. I will ever treasure his memory and having been allowed to be a very dear friend. We did not know each other long.  I cherish every moment.  I will miss you Sam!     Miss, Libba.      

I met Sam at the South Alabama Gator Club. He was a fine and loving man. My prayers are with his family and many friends. 

To the Schjott Family, 

Sam and I have known each other since the age of 5. I cannot remember a time where I didn't know him. He was the steady constant in my life even after I moved away from Alabama.  Sam and I were in EVERY extra curricular together from Ambassadors, Honor Society, Scholars Bowl,  Drama and the list goes on and on. It's hard to nail down one special memory of Sam because he made you feel special all the time. Never a frown, always a smile.  I was honored to call him friend. I pray for comfort in your time of loss. 

I knew Sam mostly thru my brother who counts him as one of his closest friends. I admired his ease of making friends, being there for anyone that needed him, his true sense of a southern gentleman, his faith and his love for his community. He was very much one of the Bayou’s treasured sons. He left an enduring legacy in all the friendships he had that I know they will all carry the true spirit of Sam with them! 

Sam was a colleague at Alabama Power.  His death is a shock and such a tragedy.  He had a bright future, never met a stranger, and was very well liked.  My sincere condolences to all of Sam’s family and friends.  He will be missed.  His star is shining brighter than ever in his heavenly home.  

We met Sam in Monroeville and always enjoyed being with him,
We were so sorry to hear of his death. He was a wonderful, friendly person and became a true friend. He will be  missed.
