Sandra Leona (Minchew) Gilchrist

Sandra Minchew Gilchrist went to meet her Savior on July 19, 2026, after a brief battle with cancer. Though her earthly life came to an end, her faith in Jesus Christ assured her of the eternal life she now enjoys in His presence. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and faithful follower of Christ whose life touched countless people.

Family was the greatest joy of Sandra’s life. She was blessed to share more than sixty-one wonderful years with her husband, Joseph Gilchrist. Together they enjoyed a life filled with love, laughter, and lifelong friendships. Nothing brought her greater happiness than spending time with her family and friends.

Sandra found joy in life’s simple blessings. She enjoyed a lengthy retirement after dedicating thirty years of service to AT&T. She loved gardening the beautiful flowers that filled her yard. She was known for her ability to cook delicious meals and fabulous desserts that she delighted in sharing with family and friends.

Above all else, she loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Her faith guided every aspect of her life and gave her unwavering hope, strength, and peace. She was a faithful member of Pathway Church for over thirty years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lesley and Olivy Minchew; sister, Joyce Rogers; and nephew, Scott Rogers.

Sandra is survived by her husband, Joseph Edward Gilchrist; children Timothy (Cindy) Gilchrist and Alison (Jesse) Hawn; grandchildren Raney Hawn and Lauren Gilchrist; great nephews, Will (Jorden) Smith and Brandon (Keagan, Weston & Rosalie) Smith; along with many extended family members, and dear friends whose lives were forever enriched by knowing her.

Sandra’s life was a testimony to perseverance, grace, and faith. Though we grieve her absence, we rejoice in the assurance that she is now healed and at peace in the presence of her Savior. Her memory will continue to bloom in the hearts of all who loved her, and her legacy of faith and unconditional love will endure for generations to come.

A private graveside service will be held on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at Pine Crest Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
