Sherri Lynn Murphy Goff, revered as a pillar of strength, bravery and unyielding positivity, entered into her eternal reward on Friday, November 8, 2024, after an extensive 22-year battle with breast cancer. Sherri was known for her warm smile, resiliency, and undeniably loving spirit she brought into this world.
Born on December 3, 1961, in Mobile, AL, Sherri was the youngest of four children born to Glenn and Ruby Murphy. She embodied kindness and faith from an early age, nurturing her love for Jesus Christ and instilling these values in those around her.
Sherri was a simple woman who lived a simple life. Rooted in Christ, she found joy and honor in serving the Lord through Redemption Church’s children’s ministry for nearly two decades. Second to her relationship with Christ, she adored and cherished the relationship she had with her children, grandson, and family members above all else. Whether it was in Tennessee, Florida or Virginia, Sherri loved to travel and was intentional about making memories with those closest to her. Sherri often would spend Saturdays with her daughter and best friend, Amy followed by time spent with her son and grandson cheering on her beloved Alabama Crimson Tide. Sherri also esteemed her position as Dispatcher for Radney Funeral Home for over 20 years. She deeply cherished each relationship with her work family, who fought alongside her and showed unwavering support throughout her cancer journey.
Sherri is preceded in death by her parents, Glenn and Ruby Murphy, step-son, Shaun Goff, and brothers, Richard (“Rick”) Murphy and James “Mike” Murphy. Left to cherish her memory are her precious children, Steven and Amy Goff, brothers, Johnny (Willodean) Murphy, and Glenn Murphy Jr. (Dixie G. Murphy), sister-in law, Dianne Murphy, step-daughter, Jessica (Shawn) Amison, four grandchildren, Kaden Goff, Farrah Floyd, Layla and Matthew Amison, as well as a host of other family and friends.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Nicole Angel and her staff at Southern Cancer Center as well as Larry and Kelly Kachele for their love, endless encouragement and unwavering support throughout Sherri’s extensive cancer battle.
A visitation for Sherri will be held Wednesday, November 13, 2024 from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Radney Funeral Home, 3155 Dauphin St, Mobile, AL 36606-4061. A Celebration of Life service will begin at 6:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
