Shirley Jackson Dennis

Mrs. Shirley Jackson Dennis passed away at her home on Monday, September 8, 2014. She was preceded in death by her parents William and Helen Jackson and three sisters Bettye Schmitz, Beverly Tullis and Margaret Minto. She is survived by her husband of 59 years John (Jack) Dennis and five children; John Dennis, Jr., Debbie McCall, Richard and Erin Dennis, Donna and Jerry Fogle and William (Rusty) and Rae Lynn Dennis. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Christopher Dennis, Brian and Jennie Dennis, Jason and Heather Dennis, Amy Dennis, Adam Dennis and great-grandchildren Brendan Dennis, Owen Dennis and Ansley Mae Dennis. Shirley graduated from the Convent of Mercy. She was an ardent gardener and worked as an officer in several local gardening clubs. She worked tirelessly to help her community and those in need. She will be greatly missed by many. Special thanks to Nancy Sanders, Cindy Stargell, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Hadley, Cathy Ferniany and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Reinhaus. Also thanks to members of Our Savior Catholic Church, especially Elvia Wilson and Kathy Barnett (Mercy Medical) who provided Shirley’s care for so long. A memorial mass will be held at Our Savior Catholic Church on Thursday, September 18, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to Our Savior Catholic Church, Autism Society or Cancer Research.
