Shirley Marie Looney

Shirley Thompson Looney – a 71 year-old native and resident of Mobile went home to be with her Lord on Friday, January 7, 2011. She was an active member of Dauphin Way Baptist Church where she sang in the choir. Shirley will be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was preceded in death by her parents, Doug and Lucille Thompson, and brother, Tony Thompson. Shirley leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 54 years, Gene Looney; children, Karen Dollar (Ron), Kathy Looney, and Greg Looney (Elaine); grandchildren, Ronny Dollar, Jackson Looney, Jennifer Wilkerson (Daniel), Daniel Churchwell, and Adam Looney; great-granddaughter, Kylie Wilkerson; many other relatives and friends. Memorial services will be held at Dauphin Way Baptist Church on Wednesday, January 12, 2011, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Adam Dooley officiating with Pastor J.T. Wright and Dr. Bill Whitfield serving as co-officiants. The family will receive friends at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 11, from 5-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Dauphin Way Baptist Church Building Fund, 3661 Dauphin St., Mobile, AL 36608.
