
An honors graduate of Behrman High School in New Orleans, Mrs. Nolan worked as a meticulous bookkeeper for Louisiana Power and Light. She married Thomas H. Nolan in 1950, and three of their children were born in New Orleans before the couple moved to Mobile in 1958. They became members of St. Ignatius Parish and built their beloved home there. Mrs. Nolan resided there, even after her husband's passing, until moving to Somerby in 2015. She remained a member of St. Ignatius Parish until her passing.
Mrs. Nolan was a devoted wife and mother to her children and a loving grandmother, an excellent gardener, and a superb cook. She was actively involved in the school and extracurricular activities of her children and grandchildren and frequently transported school children in her station wagons. She was a charter and active member of the Gulf Coast Section of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Auxiliary in Mobile.
Mrs. Nolan was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Thomas H. Nolan, her parents, Blaise Joseph Dugas and Emily Marie Weber Dugas, and her ten siblings. She is survived by her children, Sue E. Frederick (Gene Malowany) of Scottsdale, Arizona, Thomas H. Nolan, Jr. (Molly Sullivan) of Mobile, James M. Nolan (Dianne) of Mobile, and Elizabeth A. Nolan (Michael Mueller) of Raleigh, North Carolina; seven grandchildren, Sarah E. Moley, James M. Nolan Jr., Rachael L. Shoffner, Laura K. Nolan, Thomas B. Nolan, Peter N. Mueller, Gabriel N. Mueller; Kai Malowany; two great-grandchildren (Rileigh A. Shoffner and Maya A. Shoffner); and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Ignatius Catholic Church on March 24, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be in the adjoining parish hall beginning at 9:45 a.m. Interment will be at Pine Crest Cemetery (Dauphin Island Parkway). Arrangements are by Pine Crest Cemetery.
The family wishes to express their profound appreciation to caregivers Sonya Webb, Sonya Hunter, Shakari Bush, Marlene Davies, and others, including Gentiva Hospice, for their dedicated care of Mrs. Nolan.
