Capt. Sidney Eugene Dorgan Jr.

Capt. Sidney Eugene Dorgan, Jr. – age 82, a native and lifelong Mobilian passed away Saturday, August 13, 2011. He was a retired fifth generation bar pilot. Capt. Dorgan was two term past-president of the Mobile Bar Pilots’ Association and a veteran of the United States Army. He was preceded in death by his parents, Capt. Sidney Eugene Dorgan, Sr. and Clara Moore Dorgan, and sister, Janet Dorgan. Capt. Dorgan is survived by his wife of 42 years, Barbara Harris Dorgan; children: Capt. Sidney Eugene “Skipper” Dorgan, III, Suzanne Dorgan Trice (David), and Kelley Dorgan Elder (Jeff); sister, Dot Dorgan; grandchildren: William Christopher Dorgan, Holly Dorgan Hitson, David Thornton Trice, Jr., Andrew Dorgan Trice, Jacob “Jake” Michael Elder, and Sydney Louise Elder; great-grandchildren, Mary Ella Dorgan and Audrey Claire Dorgan; special niece, Tracey Fuller Lynn; other relatives and friends. Graveside services will be held in Magnolia Cemetery on Tuesday, August 16, 2011, at 11:30 a.m. The family will receive friends at Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street from 9:30 a.m. until the 11 a.m. procession to the cemetery.
