Stacey completed her family as the youngest of four children when she was born on December 12, 1968, in Mobile, AL. In her youth, she was an accomplished pianist, represented her hometown as a lavender Azalea Trail Maid, and was an alumna of Davidson High School and the University of South Alabama where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration.
Stacey was, at her core, a nurturer and caregiver. Her tender heart and resilient spirit led her to a career in the nursing home industry, and later to her role as a full-time mother and homemaker. She spent an entire lifetime raising, comforting, nursing, and uplifting all those around her. She was the most wonderful mother to her children and granddaughter. The family pets loved her deeply and were instinctively drawn to her.
Her favorite days were filled with her family and friends either sitting around a table playing cards, enjoying the beach, or listening to the blues. Her lessons in motherhood were to slow down and hold your baby while they napped and to remember that four-legged children deserve kitchen scraps. She was a firm believer that beach days were not to end until the sun was low in the sky, but simultaneously, orange was a terrible color. Everyone was welcome in her home. No one ever left early. Her family will cherish the memories of the sound of her laughter, the feeling of her hugs, and the unique experience of being loved by Stacey Posey.
Stacey is preceded in death by her father, Earl Wayne Moore; sister, Allison Anne Moore Harris; and her beloved niece, Savanna Raine Harris, whom Stacey raised as her own daughter. She will be dearly missed by her mother, Sarah Anne Raine Moore; husband, John Denson Posey Jr.; son, John Henry “Hank” Posey; daughter, Sarah Peyton (Ben) Caraway; granddaughter, Blakely Anne Brown; brothers, Michael (Sandy) Moore and Dean (Cheryl) Moore; several siblings-in-law, nieces, and nephews; the extended ‘children’ she claimed with her open heart and home; and dear friends. Stacey will be laid to rest at Pine Crest Cemetery during a private family service.
If one wishes, donations may be made in Stacey’s memory to your local animal shelter or rescue group. The family welcomes and appreciates comments and memories shared on the Dignity Memorial webpage
