Steve Hall Canode passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 2, 2026, in Mobile, Alabama. He was 77 years old. Steve was born on July 23, 1948, in Laurel, Mississippi. He married Frances Poston on January 12, 1973 – and remained married for 53 years. Steve graduated from Murphy High School, Class of 1966. He went on to have a lucrative career with South Central Bell/AT&T for 55 years. Steve was an Electronic Technician and was a very proud officer and union member of Communications Workers of America Local for 55 years. He retired on July 7, 2022. Steven enjoyed fishing and hunting with his son.
Steve was preceded in death by his mother, Sibyl Hall Canode and his son, Steve Hall Canode, Jr.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Frances Poston Canode; two daughters, Stephanie Baker and Shelia Jennings (Mark); sister, Violet Clyne (Ron); six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Robin Canode; aunt, Faye Hall Bristow; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and other cherished family and friends.
A graveside service for Steve will be held on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at 10 a.m. in Pine Crest Cemetery West, located at 1599 Snow Road South, Mobile, Alabama 36695.
