After a brave fight Susan passed away early Tuesday morning with family by her side. Susan was a native of Mobile, a graduate of Murphy High School, and a member of the 1963 Mardi Gras Court. She was preceded in death by her son N. Leigh Vaughan, Jr. and her parents E.H. "Hezzie" and "Tina" Bixler. Susan leaves to cherish her memory her son Harris C. (Heather)Vaughan II, daughter Susan V.(Scott) Hand, grandchildren Ashlynn Adelle and Lena Leigh Vaughan, sister Carolyn Bixler Lyons, and brother E. H. "Zeke" Bixler. And others who felt like family, that touched her heart beyond measure.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 2, 2017, 11:30 a.m. from St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Little Chapel. The family will receive friends on Friday, December 1, 2017 from 5:00p.m. until 8:p.m. at Pine Crest Funeral Home, 1939 Dauphin Island Parkway, Mobile, AL. 36605. In lieu of flowers Susan and her family would appreciate donations to St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 4051 Old Shell Road, Mobile, AL., 36608.
