Thomas Orr Howell III

Thomas Orr Howell III, age 74, of Semmes, Alabama passed away on Thursday, October 28, 2021 at his residence. Thomas, known by most as Tom or Chip, was born February 8, 1947. A graveside funeral service will be held for Tom at 1:00 PM on May 13, 2022 at Pine Crest Cemetery in Mobile.

Tom attended Murphy High School in Mobile Alabama where his activities included Ironclad Writer's Guild. Tom was a retired tugboat captain who supervised a six-man crew operating in and around Mobile Bay.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Orr (T.O.) Howell Jr. and Mary Virginia Boyd Howell, by his paternal grandparents Thomas Orr Howell Sr. and Mattie Octavia Earl Howell, by his maternal grandparents Austin Francis Jefferson Boyd Sr. MD and Irma Anita Pittard, by his sister Mary Christopher (Chrissie) Howell, and by an infant brother and infant sister who both died at birth. Tom was also preceded in death by his uncles, William Calvin Boyd II and Austin Francis Jefferson (Buggy) Boyd Jr., by his aunt, Anita Boyd Jenkins, and by his first cousin William Calvin Boyd III.

Tom is survived by his first cousins, Gloria Boyd Abernathy, Austin Clyde Boyd, Gail Boyd Laurila, John Jefferson Boyd, Gambrel Lawrence Boyd, Bertram Austin Jenkins and Lolita Jenkins Smith. Tom is also survived by his cousins Eugene Havens, Rachel Howell Girouard, Ronnie Howell and others.
