

Deputy Todd Joseph McQuillan – Born in Montgomery, AL on May 7, 1974, died of natural causes in his home in Santa Rosa Beach, FL on Sunday, September 26, 2010. He was 36 years old. Todd was a Deputy Sheriff for the Walton County Sheriff’s Department since 2004. Todd lived most of his life in Mobile, attending St. Pius X and graduating from McGill-Toolen Catholic High School in 1992. At that time, his only love and desire was to serve the public as a law enforcement officer. He recently received his Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice Technology from Northwest Florida State College. He started his dedicated law enforcement career as a Reserve Officer for the Mobile County Sheriff’s Department then the Prichard Police Department. Afterwards, he joined the University of South Alabama Campus Police Department, before becoming a Deputy Sheriff for Mobile County. He then relocated to Florida with the Walton County Sheriff’s Department where Todd served as a patrolman and School Resource Officer at Freeport Middle School. Todd was well respected by his peers and his superiors spoke of the dedication to service and protecting the public, and always of a stellar job performance. He touched many lives with his caring personality and sense of humor, and was loved by all. He will be remembered as a deeply religious man and dedicated father to his only son, Jack Cassity McQuillan. He is survived by his loving mother, Wanda Creel Cassity; his step-father, Gordon L. Cassity, Sr.; his father, Gerald Thomas (Alice) McQuillan; three brothers, John C. (Shannon) McQuillan, William P. “Bill” (Shannon) McQuillan and Thomas “Tom” J. (Sherri) McQuillan; seven nieces and nephews whom he dearly loved, Leigh, Eric, Brooke, Blair, T.J., Aidan, and Andrew; two loving aunts, Georgia Ann Bronson and Miriam C. Jarman; the mother of his son, Stephanie McQuillan; many cousins, other family members, and a multitude of colleagues and friends, including a special friend, Jessica Mitchell. Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 29, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until service time at the funeral home.
