Vance Billy McVay, Sr., 89, was born April 26, 1932, in Coffeeville, AL to the late Earl and Odie Mae Dungan McVay. He passed on June 18, 2021, in Mobile, AL. Vance graduated from Coffeeville high school in 1950. He served this grateful nation by joining the United States Air Force during the years of 1950-1953. Vance graduated from Livingston University in 1957 and received a Bachelor's in Business Administration. He retired from Macmillan Bloedel Inc. in 1990 following 25 years of dedicated services as the Human Resource Director. Vance spent his retired years enjoying time with family, working on his farm in West Bend and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He attended Bayspring Church and served on the board of directors for the Tillman’s Senior Center for 6 years.
Vance was preceded in death by his parents: and one brother; Forest Neal McVay.
Left to cherish Vance’s memories will be his beloved wife; Opal Jean McVay, one sister; Erline Ashbee, one son; Billy McVay and wife Sheri, three daughters: Val McVay and partner Gary Kennedy, Kim McVay, Paige McVay Bishop, one step daughter; Carla Rittiner and husband Mark, 7 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, many extended family members and numerous wonderful friends.
Celebration of Life services will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, June 24, 2021 at Radney Funeral Home, Mobile, AL.
Graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM, Thursday, June 24, 2021 on the grounds of Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery, Thomasville, AL.
The family will be receiving guests for visitation Thursday, June 24, 2021 from 9:00 AM until time of service at 10:00 AM at Radney’s.
