

Verenia Tynes Swilley, a native of Poplarville, MS, passed away at home at the age of 86. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law; Sharon and Keith Harvey; granddaughter and her husband, Natasha and Tom Hall; grandson and his wife, Joshua and Amy Boyd; two great-granddaughters, Skylar Boyd and Maddelynne Boyd; three great-grandsons, Matthew Hall, Maddox Boyd, and Myles Boyd; two sisters, Annette Welch and Mary Ann Williams; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her former husband, James Swilley; her parents, Otho Tynes, Sr. and Cecile Guidroz Tynes; five sisters, Pauline Polk, Tudell Tynes, Lolitha Tynes, Jenette Tynes, and Katherine Tynes; four brothers, Warren Tynes, Otho "Bug" Tynes, Jr., Gus Tynes, and Walter Tynes. After graduating from high school in Poplarville, she attended Pearl River Junior College and eventually transferred to the University of Southern Mississippi where she received her teaching degree. She taught in the Mobile County school system for 30 years, teaching science at Azalea Middle School and home economics at Mae Eanes Middle School before retiring. She was a member of Dauphin Way Baptist Church for over 40 years where she attended faithfully. She volunteered in the nursery, library and was in the Singing Silvertones choir. The things she loved most in life: The Lord and her church, her family, her friends, Mardi Gras parades and all other parades. A visitation will be Saturday, October 29, 2016, from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at Radney Funeral Home, Mobile. The funeral service will be held Saturday at 10:00 a.m. from the Oakleigh Chapel of Radney Funeral Home, Mobile. A private committal service will be held following. Rev.
