TSGT Vernon Black, U.S.A.F. (Retired) – a native of Carrollton, AL and a resident of Mobile, AL since 1974, died Monday, March 29, 2010 in a local hospital. TSGT Black retired from the United States Air Force in August, 1974 after 20 years of service. He also retired from the Mobile County Health Department in 2002 after 18 years of service. He is survived by his wife, Sara Black; four children, Mitchell (Becky) Black, Rick Black, Penny (George) Neil, and Michelle (Jeremy) McDaniel; one brother, Thomas Edward Black; one sister, Glenda Sprinkle; nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Funeral services will be held at 10 A.M. on Friday, April 2, 2010 from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 9 A.M. until 10 A.M. on Friday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
