Vesta "Dee" Evans

Mrs. Vesta Marie “Dee” Simon Evans, passed away on Thursday, July 12, 2018. She is preceded in death by her parents, Otto Herman and Vivian Moody Simon, brother, Otto E. Simon and sister, Martha S. Henderson. Dee was a lifelong resident of Mobile and was a graduate of Murphy High School Class of 1941. She retired after 42 years of service with the L & N (CSX) Railroad. She was a member of Springhill Avenue United Methodist Church, where she was active in many functions of the church, including the United Methodist Women and Tape Ministries. She was a longtime member of the Railway Business Women’s Association. Dee loved laughter, old movies, music, sweets and traveling. She is survived by her daughter Desiree Evans Clarke (Patrick). She is also survived by her granddaughter, Vivian Nicole Clarke, sisters, Barbara Simon Martin, Katherine Elizabeth Simon, many nieces, nephews and other family and friends. Visitation will be held at Springhill Avenue United Methodist Church on Saturday, July 28, 2018 from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life will be held at the church beginning at 4:00 p.m. A reception will be held immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Springhill Avenue United Methodist Church.
