

unWallace Kimball (Foots) Merryman, Sr., passed away Saturday, October 22, 2016. He was born October 15, 1939 in Ocala, Florida. He was a resident of Mobile, AL and former resident of Camden, AL. He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert E. Merryman and Helen Merryman Barnes, his brothers, William D. Merryman and Ernest L. Merryman. Mr. Merryman served his country honorably in the United States Army as a member of Army 101st Airborne Screaming Eagles. He retired from the U. S. Postal Service after 15 years of service. Mr. Merryman is survived by his wife of 57 years, Bennita Jenkins Merryman and four children; Sharon (Mark) Monk, Sheila (Mike) Lee, Brenda (Beau) Boshell and Wally (Theresa) Merryman, Jr. He is also survived by two brothers, Bob (Charlene) Merryman, Richard (Judy) Merryman, eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Wallace coached pee-wee football for many years producing championship football teams for the Cottage Hill Rams. He was an avid sportsman and belonged to the Mobile Archery Association. He enjoyed building and flying model airplanes. Tales of his adventures on his airboat are legendary; hence the nickname “Foots”. Visitation will be held at Radney Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
