Walter Woolf Burdin – age 83, a native of Selma, AL and a longtime resident of Mobile, passed away on Tuesday, May 30, 2011, at his home. He served in the United States Air Force from July 1946 to July 1949. Mr. Burdin then entered the University of Alabama, graduating in 1953 with a degree in civil engineering. He worked for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile Office, until his retirement in 1993. Mr. Burdin was preceded in death by his parents, Junius and Myrtle Burdin, and brothers, Frank and Wesley Burdin. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Gloria Burdin; children, Barron Burdin, Elizabeth Russ (Richard), and April Hannah (Ted); sister, June Arnette; grandchildren, Chris Burdin, Sara Burdin, and Nicholas Hannah; nieces, nephews, and his best buddy, Gary Hazelton.
