
Walter “Buster” “Buddy” “Red” “Old Man” “Paw-Paw” Cazalas, Sr. – a 74 year-old native of Tuskegee, AL, and a resident of Mobile since 1950, passed away Thursday, November 29, 2012. Mr. Cazalas graduated from Baker High School in 1956 and served in the United States Marine Corps and Reserve. He then ran the Gulf Oil Service Stations on Virginia St., Michigan Ave., and Airport Blvd. and McGregor Ave. until 1965. Mr. Cazalas retired from Scott Paper after 30 of service (Warren Mills, later Sappie). He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Berniece W. Cazalas; sons, Rev. Walter W. (Cindy) Cazalas, Jr., Leland (LeeAnn) Cazalas, and Gene (Tanya) Cazalas; brother, Billy Cazalas; sister, Janet Joiner; 10 grandchildren, Christi Cazalas, M.D., Rachel, Joshua, Seth, Cameron, Taylor, Ana, Brianna, NaKayla, and Amirah Cazalas; great-grandson, Josiah Cazalas; four honorary grandchildren, Tommy Franklin, and Edward, Jarred, and Mary Ann Diamond and their parents, Lavada and James Diamond; many nieces and nephews; special cousin, Nancy Chadwick and family; and his special friends at Hobbytown U.S.A. and R/C Racers. Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Monday, December 3, 2012, at 12 noon with Bro. Robert Allen and Bro. Jared Brown officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the service hour. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
